God wants to use our stories to reach others for Jesus. We should be willing to do anything short of sin to reach people who don't know Jesus Christ. Jesus shed light in the dark places, so we can share light in the dark places.

Matthew 5:13-16 NIV

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

How do I influence the world without falling sway to the influence of the world?

1. Stay Aligned.

2. Don't Whine.

3. Let Light Shine.

4. Be a Sign.

Philippians 2:12-17 NIV

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and tremblingfor it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.Do everything without grumbling or arguingso that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the skyas you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

1. Stay Aligned - Don't Waste Your Influence

Work out what God has worked in. No one can live out the Christian life for you. You cannot outsource your obedience.

Philippians 1:7, Philippians 1:12-14 NIV

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ.And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.

2. Don't Whine - Don't Waste your Influence

Philippians 2:14-15 NIV

Do everything without grumbling or arguingso that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”

3. Let Your Light Shine - Don't Waste Your Influence

The darkness has never seemed darker, but we as stars have never had a better chance to shine brighter.

4. Be a Sign - Don't Waste Your Influence

Philippians 2:17 NIV

But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.

1 Thessalonians 2:19 NIV

For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?

You are an influencer.
