A Message from Our Pastor
I often choke up when I think of coming home after 30 years away. I grew up in Seminole, met Jesus at First Baptist, married my high school sweetheart in the current worship center, and decided to serve Him vocationally at a tent revival on the church parking lot. Sometimes my heart surges with adrenaline at the thought God brought me full circle.
There’s another kind of coming home mentioned in God’s story. It’s when rebellious people, distracted people, confused people, religious people, antagonistic people, all kinds of people come home to their heavenly Father. It’s the beautiful story of a lost son that runs into the arms of his compassionate father and soon discovers a party ensues celebrating his homecoming.
It’s this atmosphere of grace we envision at First Baptist Church of Seminole. We invite you to embrace your role in God’s story. In the meantime, we want to model the Dad in Luke 15. Our hope is you can find a home with God here and for eternity. Just know the porchlight is on – and I cannot wait to meet you.
Our Values
Disciples Beyond a Decision
We understand that the decision to trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior becomes the starting point for spiritual growth, but we are called as Christians to grow in our faith and in our walk with God
○ Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 5:14-6:2
Commitment Instead of Conformity
We move from blindly following religious rules to joyfully listening to and obeying God’s plan for us.
○ Philippians 3:4-14, James 4:6-8, 2 Peter 3:18
Building Partners From Participants
We invest in each other and in God’s kingdom with our lives, rather than simply being consumers of the church’s resources. We understand seasons of rest and restoration are needed to allow for future partnerships.
○ Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Romans 1:11-12, 1 Cor 4:2
Developing Community, Not Cliques
We are open to opportunities to fellowship with one another regardless of status, race, age, gender, how long we’ve been attending this church, etc.
○ Acts 2:42-47, Titus 2:1-8, Ephesians 4:1-6
