What to Do When Wrong Seems Right
What to Do When Wrong Seems Right
Temptation comes from our own desires that Satan cultivates to lead to sin. Outward trials can lead to inward temptation. We must anticipate the course of temptation, recognize the source of temptation, refuse to diminish the force of temptation, and activate the recourse of temptation. Sin is serious and is either killing us or we or killing sin.

When you are ready to quit, remember…
It takes a death to have a resurrection.
It takes pain to have progress.
It takes a trial to have a testimony.
It takes a hurt to have a healing.
It takes a struggle to have a story worth telling. you are ready to quit, remember…

Distractions can capture our attention. It's our direction not our intention that leads to our destination.

Enticement (Deception)
Entrapment (Desire)
Endorsement (Disobedience)
Enslavement (Death)
The solution to diversion is to Flee!
John Owen "You must be killing sin, or sin will be killing you."
The way to deal with sin is to Fight.

Trials on the outside may become temptations on the inside.
Sin always starts with you. You are responsible.
Satan is in the desire cultivation business

b. His goodness is undeserved.
c. His goodness is unending.
Big Idea: Temptation tries to trap us, but God wants to transform us.
“What’s the worst or funniest purchase you’ve made that looked great at first but turned out to be a trap?”
(Example: Late-night infomercial? Clickbait online deal?)
Read James 1:13–19 Aloud
1. Where Does It Come From? (vv. 13–15)
• Why is it important that James says God doesn’t tempt us?
• According to these verses, what is the source of temptation?
• Walk through the “life cycle of sin” James outlines:
Desire → Deception → Disobedience → Death
• Can you think of a real-life example where this cycle played out?
2. What Does God Actually Do? (vv. 16–18)
• What does James mean by “Don’t be deceived”?
• What are some “good and perfect gifts” you’ve seen in your life recently?
• What does it mean that God doesn’t change like shifting shadows?
• How does it feel to know that God gave us birth through the word of truth?
“What is one ‘bait’ in your life right now that looks good, but you know could be a trap?”
• What would it look like to take a step away from that bait this week?
• How can this group help hold you accountable or encourage you?
