On the Table

We are putting the big questions on the table. The big questions you and your friends have asked about God. Questions such as: Why is there suffering? Why are people abandoning their faith? Is Jesus the only way to God? What does God say about the transgender movement? The Scripture does not avoid your questions and God is not frustrated by them. God welcomes us with our questions and meets us with His grace and truth. On the weekend of September 8 join us for our new series, On the Table, as we unpack several pressing questions confronting the Christian faith. Josh Gatewood will also have a seminar that afternoon for The Bible and Transgenderism.

Genesis 2:18-23 CSB

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.”The LORD God formed out of the ground every wild animal and every bird of the sky, and brought each to the man to see what he would call it. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the sky, and to every wild animal; but for the man no helper was found corresponding to him.So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to come over the man, and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place.Then the LORD God made the rib he had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man.And the man said: This one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called “woman,” for she was taken from man.

God’s Design for Sex

1. Respect: God wants us to honor each other as image bearers – there is no place for sexual abuse of any kind (Genesis 1:27).

2. Procreation: God wants married couples to make babies (Genesis 1:28).

3. Intimacy: God wants married couples to experience a unique level of unity and connection— physically, emotionally, etc. (Genesis 2:24; 1 Corinthians 7:1ff.).

4. Pleasure: God wants married couples to enjoy each other and experience sexual pleasure (Genesis 2:24; Song of Solomon; 1 Corinthians 7:5). (God is not a kill-joy).

5. Protection: God wants married couples to care for each other and their children (Ephesians 5:22–6:4).

Big Idea: God’s design for sex is the joyful, covenantal union of one man and one woman in the context of lifelong marriage.

God's design is good, because God's character is good.
