Study of Revelation

Perhaps no other book of the Bible feels as inaccessible and as intimidating to us as the very last one. The book of Revelation overflows with images and ideas that confound our modern ears. But if all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable, we should assume Revelation is as accessible and helpful as any other book of the Bible. Why don't we see it that way? Two thousand years ago, John's Revelation was circulated and read aloud among seven churches in Asia Minor.  Those who heard the letter understood it and drew encouragement from it's message. The same can be true for you today.
Over 9 sessions of verse-by-verse Bible study, Joe Stewart helps you discover how the last book of the Bible-the culmination of God's great story-speaks both a steadying word of assurance and a strong call to endure to the church of every age.

“No More Mediocre Me
Psalm 16
New Faith: Small Steps of Sanctification
Love. Serve. Repeat.
hey
hey
hey
Psalm 16 offers something better than the religion of me —a Jesus‑centered life overflowing with joy, security, and purpose.

Four reasons why new faith needs more than “me spirituality.”

1.Christianity has an Authority

2. Christianity has Security

3. Christianity has Community

4. Christianity focuses on Eternity

1. Christianity has Authority
hey
Faith over feelings. Don't let temporary emotions dictate consequential decisions.

When the pressure rises, trust what’s true, not what you feel.

hey
2. Christianity is about Safety
3. Christianity is about Community
4. True Christianity Focuses on Eternity
Overflowing joy becomes:

• strength in trials
• peace in uncertainty
• courage in obedience
• love for others
• endurance in sanctification

THREE SMALL STEPS OF SANCTIFICATION FOR THIS YEAR

1. Make gathering a priority.
Not “if I’m tired.”
Not “if I’m free.”
Not “if nothing else comes up.”
Think Snapchat streaks.
How many Sundays can you string together?
And if you miss—how fast can you restart?
What would happen to your heart if this became your most churched year ever?

2. Lean into Connect Group.
Breakthroughs happen together.
Iron sharpens iron.
Confession brings healing.
Two are better than one.

3. Engage Scripture four or more days a week.
A study of 400,000 Christians found:
Four+ days in Scripture = measurable, significant life change.
This is a small step with massive impact.

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION GUIDE
Psalm 16 – No More Mediocre Me
New Faith: Small Steps of Sanctification
---
1. Warm‑Up
Icebreaker:
Share one DIY project you attempted that didn’t go as planned. What made you think, “I probably should’ve asked for help”?

---
2. Read the Passage (3 minutes)
Read Psalm 16 aloud as a group.
Invite someone to read slowly and thoughtfully.
---
3. Discussion Section One: God’s Authority (vv.1–2)
Key Idea: True Christianity begins with dependence, not self‑confidence.
Questions:
What stood out to you about the three names David uses for God (Elohim, Yahweh, Adonai)?
Why do you think David begins with “Keep me safe” instead of “I’ve got this”?
Where do you see “me spirituality” show up in your own life—areas where you want God as consultant, not Lord?
How do feelings sometimes become “fog” that mislead us? What helps you trust truth over emotion?
Practice:
Invite each person to name one area where they need to say, “God, I need You,” instead of “I’ve got this.”
---
4. Discussion Section Two: God’s Security (vv.5–8)
Key Idea: God is not our backup plan—He is our portion, cup, and boundary‑setter.
Questions:
What does it mean for God to be your “portion and cup”?
How do you react to the idea that God sets “boundary lines” for your good?
Where do you tend to resist God’s boundaries because they feel restrictive?
David says, “I keep my eyes always on the LORD.” What helps you stay intentional in your walk with God?

Have the group reflect silently for 30 seconds:
“What boundary of God have I been pushing against that I need to trust again?”
---
5. Discussion Section Three: God’s Community (v.3)
Key Idea: Sanctification happens together, not alone.
Questions:
How has Christian community helped you in a season when you were drifting or discouraged?
Why do you think God designed spiritual growth to happen in community rather than isolation?
What makes it hard to stay connected to a group or church family?

---
6. Discussion Section Four: Eternity (vv.9–11)
Key Idea: Joy is rooted in God’s presence, not circumstances.
Questions:
David describes joy, rest, and security—even in the face of death. What part of that resonates with you most?

Where have you been settling for “occasional happiness” instead of “fullness of joy”?
---
7. Application: Three Small Steps (10 minutes)
Step 1: Prioritize Gathering
What gets in the way of consistent Sunday worship?
What would change in your life if you made gathering a non‑negotiable habit this year?

Step 2: Lean Into Community
What breakthrough do you hope God brings through this group?
What’s one way you can be more open, honest, or present?

Step 3: Engage Scripture 4+ Days a Week
What time of day works best for you to be in the Word?
What helps you stay consistent when motivation dips?

Closing Challenge

This week:

Love - Name ways you are grateful for God's love

Serve by setting God before you to find intentionality

Repeat in your presence is fullness of joy

Small steps form a joyful heart.
